Founded in the 1890s, Marshalls is the UK’s leading supplier of hard landscaping, building and roofing products. With a long history of supplying quality building materials, the company is at the forefront of driving new innovation and was the first to introduce block paving to the UK in the 1970s.

Having worked with Jewson Civils Frazer on major projects across the UK, their shared commitment to sustainable building is forging a strong and lasting relationship between the two partners.

We talk to Sales Director Nick Boyle and Marshalls Sales Manager Ross Munro about how their collaboration is supporting internationally renowned projects and driving sustainability goals within the building industry.

Marshall's work at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham“We have worked with the team at Marshalls on a significant number of high-profile, large-scale developments over the years. More recently we supported the build of the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, providing extensive paving materials and other products for the purpose-built Commonwealth Games athletics stadium.

“Having partnered on many major projects in the past it’s clear to see that the strength of our relationship and alignment of our goals contribute to our success,” explains Nick.

“The Marshalls team are market leaders in the world of hard landscaping and their knowledge and commitment to innovation shine through on every project. Working together we are able to deliver product solutions that give our team a unique advantage whatever the scale of project or scheme.”

“The market continues to be tough and it is important to build relationships with suppliers that you know and can trust to deliver time and time again. Customers expect the very best results and that often means anticipating their needs early, offering a smooth and responsive delivery on time and to budget.”

Ross confirms that this shared focus is forging a strong relationship, he adds: “It is refreshing to work with a company that is so forward thinking and proactive in promoting key suppliers. Having worked on several high-profile projects together we have formed a deep understanding of our joint working practices and it is great to see how aligned the two companies are in seeking to drive improvements across the industry.

“Our shared focus makes for a strong partnership and it has built a solid foundation for future projects going forward.”

“Having partnered on several major UK projects it has really shown the strength of our relationship and how aligned the businesses are in achieving shared goals for the industry.”

“Where our greatest strength lies though is our united commitment to creating a more sustainable industry by tackling the carbon challenge from the ground up,” explains Nick.

“Marshalls is leading the way in trying to minimise the impact on the environment in building projects. From how they make and transport products to the packaging and product mixes. As we work towards becoming net zero it is important to not only look at the steps we are making internally, but also those of our suppliers.”

“Choosing to work with suppliers sharing our values and driving change in the industry is crucial. As businesses, we can each make little steps but put these together and we can achieve a seismic shift in an industry traditionally seen as a high polluter.”

“Sustainability should be a part of every step of the process and is a conscious choice to always do the right things, for the right reasons, in the right way. Working with Jewson Civils Frazer is our conscious choice to unite with businesses that truly make a difference.”

It is a view shared by Ross who says: “At Marshalls, we are committed to making the world better one home at a time which is why introducing sustainability measures where we can, is extremely important. This is a vision shared by Jewson Civils Frazer and we are pleased to be able to work together to not only look at how positive steps can be made between our businesses but across the construction industry as a whole.”
