The Visqueen Radon Sump Unit Black is used when the subfloor depressurisation is required. This Visqueen Radon Sump is a prefabricated plastic unit designed to act as a collection point for radon gas prior to it being ventilated away when connected to an extract fan. The product is manufactured from plastic which provides strength and hardness to the product and thereby providing corrosion resistance. The pipework should be connected to this sump, with the joints fully sealed using the Visqueen Radon Membrane Jointing System. The sump is only installed as a fall-back measure which does not provide any radon removal until a fan is installed or, if the sump is located centrally, the pipe is connected to a passive stack system. These sumps are installed at one unit per dwelling or every 15m radius.
